Karyn Bousfield – Nurse Director Primary Care, Health Hawke’s Bay

Karyn was raised in Gisborne with a strong family link to Hawke’s Bay.  Following the completion of her RN education in Wellington, Karyn moved to the West Coast of the South Island in 1991, where she gained extensive experience across the health sector, locally, regionally and nationally.  During her eight years as the West Coast District Health Board Director of Nursing, Karyn worked with teams to develop innovative models of care, a supportive inter-professional workforce and new health facilities to ensure the community had access to timely and effective health services. Karyn has a passion for people, health, equitable outcomes for all and the important role of primary health care.
